Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of the Paws & Beans app. We have kept them in plain English, because terms nobody can read protect nobody.

Using the app

We give you a personal, non-exclusive licence to use Paws & Beans on devices you own or control, for your own use. You may not resell it, rent it out, or try to extract its source code.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the app. If you are under the age where you live that lets you agree to terms on your own, a parent or guardian needs to agree to them with you.

Paws & Beans Pro

The app is free to use. Pro is optional, and unlocks extra dog breeds, café rooms, hats, bandanas and pastries. It does not remove ads, because there are no ads for anybody, and it does not give you beans — you still earn those by focusing.

There are two ways to buy it:

  • Paws & Beans Pro — Monthly is an auto-renewing subscription with a term of one month. It renews automatically each month at the price shown in the app for your country, charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account, until you cancel it.
  • Paws & Beans Pro — Lifetime is a single payment. It never renews and there is nothing to cancel.

Prices are always shown in your own currency inside the app before you buy. We do not set them per country — the store converts them — so the app shows you the store's number rather than ours.

Renewal and cancellation

  • A monthly subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period.
  • You cancel in your store account — Settings → your name → Subscriptions on iOS, or the Subscriptions page in the Google Play app — not in Paws & Beans. The app has a button that takes you straight there, but the store owns the billing relationship and only it can cancel.
  • Cancelling keeps Pro running until the month you have already paid for runs out. You do not lose it immediately.
  • When Pro ends, everything you unlocked with beans stays yours. The Pro-only extras simply stop being available to equip.

Payment, refunds and free trials

All purchases are handled by Apple or Google, not by us. We never see or store your card details. Refunds are theirs to give under their own policies — Apple's are requested at reportaproblem.apple.com and Google's through Google Play. Ask us and we will help you chase it, but we cannot issue the refund ourselves.

If we ever offer a free trial and you buy a subscription during it, the unused part of that trial is forfeited when the purchase starts.

Your account and your data

Signing in is optional and free. The app works fully without an account; signing in exists so your progress and your Pro entitlement can follow you to a new phone.

What we collect and why is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. You can delete your account and everything attached to it from inside the app, or on our account deletion page.

Fair use

Please do not use the app to break the law, do not try to interfere with it or the services behind it, and do not attempt to obtain Pro features without paying for them. We may suspend access that does any of these.

The app is provided as it is

We work hard on Paws & Beans, but we cannot promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. It is a focus timer with a dog in it — please do not rely on it for anything where a missed timer would cause you real harm. To the extent the law where you live allows it, the app is provided "as is" and our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the problem arose.

Nothing here takes away consumer rights you have by law and cannot sign away. In Australia, that includes your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Changes and ending

We may update these terms as the app changes. If we make a material change we will say so in the app or on this page, and the date at the top will move. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new version.

You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may end your licence if you materially breach these terms.

Apple and Google

Apple and Google are not parties to these terms and are not responsible for the app. For apps downloaded from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and where it conflicts with anything above, it wins.
